Ingredients
2 ounces white rum (Matusalem Platino, Appleton White or Brugal White are all fine choices)
1 ounce fresh lime juice
1 ounce fresh pink grapefruit juice
¾ ounce maraschino liqueur
1 teaspoon superfine sugar, optional
Preparation
- Step 1
The original was made in a blender with crushed ice, but shaken and strained into a chilled cocktail glass works nicely. Garnish with a wheel of lime.

Followed the recipe exactly and blended in a Margaritaville machine. This is a fine version. I like the sugar in it. In fact, I'd reduce the lime juice to 3/4 oz as even with the added sugar it's quite tart with the lime and the grapefruit juice. I've seen other versions that use less maraschino liqueur, but I like this with the full 3/4 oz.
Quite good. Didn't need sugar.
