Toasted Irish Oatmeal With Apple Cider

Ingredients
1 ½ cups steel-cut oats
2 cups apple cider
2 cups milk
Pinch of salt
Cream, optional
Butter, optional
Preparation
- Step 1
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Spread oats in a single layer on a rimmed baking sheet or jellyroll pan. Toast oats for 15 minutes, turning pan halfway through.
- Step 2
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine toasted oats, cider and milk. Simmer until oats are tender but not mushy, 25 to 30 minutes. Stir in salt. Serve with butter and cream if desired.

Good, not great. I too chopped up an apple and added some blueberries. It’s pretty thick and substantial and the cider flavor comes through. Half n half to thin it is a must.
This was very good. I added a chopped up apple, half a pear and a handful of golden raisins and currants.
