  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves

  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter

  • Coarse salt and freshly ground pepper to taste

Preparation

  1. Step 1

    Remove the pods from the fava beans. If you like, peel their skins.

  2. Step 2

    Put beans in top of a steamer and sprinkle them with thyme. Cook them until they are tender (this depends on their size and whether they are peeled, but it shouldn't take longer than 15 minutes).

  3. Step 3

    Put the beans in a warm serving bowl, add the butter, salt and pepper and toss them. Serve immediately.

3/26: made with my fava beans which I steamed over lemon thyme & swirled in TJs feta spread-yummy

Used favas and thyme from my garden. Instead of butter, applied a little Fat Gold olive oil made in Oakland, Calif. Super delicious.
