Ingredients
1 slice whole-wheat bread
¼ cup low-fat milk
1 pound ground raw turkey
1 tablespoon grated onion
Salt and pepper to taste
Pinch of ground cloves
Pinch of nutmeg
1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
4 tablespoons safflower oil
2 ½ tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon cider vinegar
1 tablespoon water
Preparation
- Step 1
Tear the bread into pieces and place in a mixing bowl. Add milk, turkey, onion, salt and pepper to taste, cloves and nutmeg. Mix well with your hands.
- Step 2
Form the mixture into eight small patties. Make knife cuts on each patty, lengthwise and then crosswise, so they will look as if they were cooked on a grill. Sprinkle grated cheese over the patty tops.
- Step 3
Put oil in a skillet over high heat. Reduce to medium and cook burgers 4 minutes on each side.
- Step 4
Remove burgers from the skillet and set aside on a warm platter. Pour out the oil and add butter to the skillet. Melt, stirring, over medium heat. Add the vinegar and water, stirring and scraping bottom of pan.
- Step 5
Pour the sauce over the turkey burgers and serve.

These were excellent—lots of flavor. I did add extra tsp of the cider vinegar and extra tbsp water to the sauce as it was very buttery. Next time will try the yogurt/dijon sauce suggested by another commenter.
This is so good and easy- everyone loves them! I actually made the patty and this week swapped a frozen pre made patty. I cooked them the same and no one knew the difference!
These are so good and so easy on a weeknight when everyone is hungry.
