  • ½ cup chopped onions

  • 1 tablespoon bacon drippings or vegetable oil

  • ½ cup apple juice

  • 2 tablespoons wine vinegar

  • ¼ cup lemon juice

  • ¼ cup molasses

  • 1 cup chili sauce

  • 1 teaspoon ground pepper

  • 1 teaspoon French-style mustard

  • ¼ cup ketchup

  1. Step 1

    Saute the onions in the drippings or oil until brown. Add the rest of the ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes. Use to baste meats or chicken during the last 15 minutes of cooking.
