  • 2 cups finely chopped onions

  • ½ cup butter

  • 4 garlic cloves, minced

  • 2 cups chicken broth

  • ¼ cup vinegar

  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard

  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar

  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

  • 3 tablespoons chili sauce

  • 1 teaspoon horseradish

  • 2 bay leaves

  • 1 teaspoon Tabasco sauce

  • ¼ teaspoon ground cloves

  • ¼ teaspoon ground allspice

  1. Step 1

    In a heavy saucepan, saute the onions in the butter until golden (not brown). Add the garlic and cook a few minutes. Add the remaining ingredients and simmer, uncovered, 25 to 30 minutes.
