Baked Whole Fish With Tahini Marinade

Ingredients
- 13-pound whole white-fleshed fish (such as sea bass or red snapper)
- 3tablespoons tahini (sesame paste)
- 2cloves garlic, peeled
- 2tablespoons peanut or safflower oil
- 1tablespoon soy sauce
- 2tablespoons fresh ginger, minced
- Juice ½ lemon or to taste
- Freshly ground pepper to taste
- 2tablespoons fresh thyme leaves
- 6scallions, sliced
- 2tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
Preparation

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Wipe the fish dry with paper towels.
- Step 2
Place the tahini, garlic, vegetable oil, soy sauce, ginger, lemon juice and pepper in a food processor and puree until smooth. Mix in the thyme and spread the mixture over the fish, inside and out. Sprinkle with scallions and bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until the fish is cooked. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and serve.

Given how many flavourful ingredients that go into this recipe, I found it surprisingly bland. I think she missed a step of adding salt and pepper to the fish before covering it with the marinade.
Made this to top rock cod fillets. Made sauce as written except used powdered ginger and dried thyme as that's what I had. Extra garlic as that's what we like. Baked in oven for 10 min. I found it tasty and an easy sauce for an unassuming fish. Will try it next time with fresh ginger and thyme.
