Ingredients
- 2tablespoons dried cranberries
- ¾cup cranberry juice cocktail (I use Ocean Spray)
- ½cup good vodka, such as Grey Goose
- ¼cup Triple Sec liqueur
- 1cup ice
Preparation
- Step 1
Place the cranberries and 2 tablespoons water in a small bowl, cover and microwave for 30 seconds. Set aside until completely cool, about 15 minutes.
- Step 2
Meanwhile, combine the cranberry juice cocktail, vodka, Triple Sec and ice in a large cocktail shaker, put the lid on and shake for a full 30 seconds. Place a tablespoon of the cranberries in each of 2 martini glasses and pour in the cocktail mixture. Serve ice cold.

I usually make the same, but with pomegrante. Sub pomegrante juice for cranberry juice cocktail and several of the seeds in the bottom of the glass, skipping the need to rehydrate dried cranberries. Taste for whether it requires a bit of simple syrup (cranberry juice cocktail has quite a bit of sugar) and voila! a lovely, holiday cocktail. A sugared rim makes it extra festive.
Why not soak the dried cranberries in the liqueur rather than water?
Cointreau IS triple sec. Grand Marnier is not and is sweeter. Cointreau is better for cocktails.
I would cut down on the amount of Triple Sec next time - a bit too sweet for my taste. Pretty and drinkable otherwise.
It was a beautiful drink to serve at Thabksgiving! we loved the fact that we could make a pitcher of the drink ahead of time and chill it. Those who didn't care for it preferred a sweeter drink. But I thought it was perfect for the occasion!
What an amazing cocktail. I did accidentally give my mother in law alcohol poisoning by giving her too many. But heyyyyyy it’s the holidays
