This modern variation on the shandy combines beer, fresh lemon juice and ginger beer with a fruity pour of crème de cassis and a bit of dry vermouth to balance. When choosing a crème de cassis — a black currant-based liqueur — opt for a high-quality bottle from the Burgundy region of France (Gabriel Boudier or Giffard are both excellent choices) or a modern interpretation, such as New York-based C. Cassis. Use the leftover crème de cassis in a Kir, All Day Cassis or Cassis Manhattan.

I wasn't sure what to expect from that. it turned out to be a very well balanced, refreshing tipple.
