  • ½ loaf French or Italian bread

  • 1 garlic clove, peeled

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan or Gruyere, or to taste

Preparation

  1. Step 1

    Rub the crust of the bread all over with the garlic clove.

  2. Step 2

    Cut the bread into ⅛-inch-thick slices and arrange the slices on a baking sheet. Sprinkle with the oil and the cheese.

    Broil until golden on both sides, then cut into 1-inch squares.
