Also nice with a robust mezcal in place of the gin. This drink can also be made more affordable by substituting a genever such as Dolin for the Chartreuse. At some loss of complexity, sadly.
The Last Word lifted my spirits during these trying lockdown times.
We’ve been drinking these every Friday date night for years. Don’t forget the Maraschino cherry garnish!
Can be made with Faccia Brutto Centeherbe if you can’t find chartreuse, although there really isn’t a good substitute for the real stuff. I recommend Luxardo Marichino cherry liqueur, a quality London dry gin and of course fresh squeezed lime juice.
Best drink. Great with mezcal as others have noted. If you can’t find (or don’t want to spend the $$ on) green Chartreuse, regional herbal liqueurs such as Accompani Flora Green work well.
