Extremely tasty without being too sweet. Spectacular cocktail for winter season in a town with 4 apple orchards. A quick dip of honey is great to attach the crumbs - too much and it drips unattractively down the side of the glass. What's nicest about this drink is that you can enjoy one or two before dinner, drink wine with your meal and still stand up at the end.
Used dark spiced rum in place of the vanilla vodka - even more of a gingerbread feel.
Better with bourbon rather than vodka. Adds complexity and interest.
I made this for Christmas and my ENTIRE family loved it! It was made as a large batch cocktail. At first I thought it was a little too syrupy, but with the addition of ice it was perfect. I think I would have achieved this if I used a shaker and ice as directed.
I'm very glad I only bought a tiny sample bottle of the vanilla vodka. I won't be buying any more. @Emma Rose
I did not like this cocktail. I made as written, including purchasing the vanilla vodka. It was overly sweet and not particularly complex. Mostly tasted of apple cider. The rim would have been better made with lemon than honey, which dropped and added to the sweetness.
